HealthDay News — Telling yourself that an angry person is just having a bad day and that its not about you can help take the sting out of their ire, a new study suggests. This strategy of finding another way to regard an angry person is an approach commonly suggested in cognitive behavioral therapy. For example, you can tell yourself that the angry person has just lost his dog or received bad news and is taking it out on you.Stanford University researchers conducted two experiments to examine the speed and efficiency of this process of reappraising others emotions.

That number appears to be on the rise. In 1997-1999, about 12.8 percent of kids were diagnosed with a developmental disability. That number rose to 15 percent in 2006-2008 — or an additional 1.8 million U.S. children.

Much of the bump up in cases seems driven by rising rates of autism and ADHD, experts say.

Are working moms more prone to depression than those who stay at home? One faces long hours away from her family, a lot of juggling and exhaustion. The other faces long hours with needy little humans, a lot of isolation and exhaustion. A new study suggests that it’s less important whether a mother works outside of the home than the kind of job she has.

The study, released Friday by the Council of Contemporary Families, found that working moms who have good jobs had among the lowest levels of depressive symptoms of all the mothers studied. Even if the women’s stated preference was to stay home, those with good jobs reported the same level of unhappiness as those who chose not to be in the paid labor force. A satisfying job seems to be a good hedge against unhappiness.

“After over forty years on the East Coast, I now live in California with my husband and son, and work at University of California, Berkeley. Quite a change, but I love it.

I’ve had a website for people with depression called Wing of Madness http://www.wingofmadness.com/ for almost fifteen years. I have MS, but I try not to let it slow me down.”

and Amazon refused to save my profile because “The text entered may not contain profanity.”

What am I missing? Do I have some kind of writing Tourette’s that I’m blind to?
